Formation Process of the Center
The project “Science Space Complex,” the predecessor of the ExploraScience and Innovation Center, was initiated by the Rencontres du Vietnam Association and later approved by the Provincial People’s Committee as an investment project for construction. The project was undertaken by the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Dinh Province. The groundbreaking took place in September 2015. The center is currently located at 10 Dai Lo Khoa Hoc (also known as the Quy Hoa Science Urban Area), which is considered the first destination in Vietnam where the public can freely engage in scientific exploration and entertainment.
The ExploraScience and Innovation Center was officially established on December 24, 2015, as an organizational unit under the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Dinh Province. It is the first place in Vietnam dedicated to bringing science to the public and fostering a love for science, especially among the youth. The initial satellite component following the important nucleus factor was the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), inaugurated in August 2013. This was a step towards planning and developing the Quy Hoa Science Urban Area in the city of Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh Province, aimed at transforming Quy Nhon into a distinctive science and education destination in Vietnam.
Mission of the Center
The ExploraScience and Innovation Center serves as both a scientific education and science tourism hub, targeting children, students, and young people in Binh Dinh Province, as well as domestic and international tourists visiting Binh Dinh. The center is a component of the province’s science tourism development program.
The center’s functions include managing, operating, exploiting, and utilizing the facilities of the Science Space Complex to organize activities that cater to the exploration, learning, research, and scientific discovery needs of youth and the public. It collaborates in introducing basic science and exploring space while promoting the development of science tourism. Additionally, the center implements activities to support entrepreneurship and innovation within the province.
Organizational Structure
Leadership of the Center: Consists of the Director and 2 Deputy Directors.
The Director is the head of the Center, representing the legal entity of the Center, responsible to the Director of the Department of Science and Technology and to the law for all activities of the Center and the implementation of the assigned tasks and authorities. The Director of the Center is appointed and relieved of duty by the Director of the Department of Science and Technology, based on the agreement of the Director of the Department of Internal Affairs.
The Deputy Directors of the Center assist the Director in overseeing specific areas of the Center’s activities as assigned by the Director. They act on behalf of the Director of the Center to address matters within the Director’s responsibilities and authority when delegated by the Director. The Deputy Directors are responsible to the Director of the Center and the law for the assigned areas of work. The appointment and removal of Deputy Directors are done by the Director of the Department of Science and Technology, upon the recommendation of the Director of the Center.
