On 21th June (summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere), ExploraScience hold a Science – learning event for the public through observation of partial solar eclipse. The program occurred over a period of three hours (1p.m – 4p.m) at the center with the amount of approximately half of million participants ranging from students to Astronomy enthusiasts at any ages.

Instruction about the method to calculate the distance between Earth and Moon.

Rather than merely a single activity of astronomical observation, all of participating “positions” such as Quy Nhon, Hung Yen, Ha Noi, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh city, … built unitedly a livestream which was likely to facilitate a gainful chance for those who had been keeping an interest in Astronomy to connect mutually as well as know how the observation of solar eclipse was happening over the country. Besides, a thorough lecture introducing about solar eclipse along with eye-safe methods to observe this fascinating phenomenon from ExploraScience was prepared for all people prior to see the Sun with professional telescopes at the same place.

A wealth of different ways to see the solar eclipse.

As a continuation of successes derived from the public event above, various similar Science-exploring activities are expected to occur more frequently here as a promise of ExploraScience dedicated to all visitors, that they would have an ideal place to be reinforced inherent knowledge and stimulated the potential pursuit towards Astronomy as well.

The maximum magnitude of eclipse at 3:08 p.m in Quy Nhon.
